When Barbara Mangold passed in February of this year, we acquired the custody of her 10 month old Sottish Terrier, whom is now 14 months old. Scotties are really smart and are of the same breed as pit bulls , the terrier family. We have our hands full. If you are able to look up the breed on the internet they have a great and noble past.
There are lots of changes going on here with our little company. At your request I have started mowing again. For a while I will be using a lawn tractor for this until I can afford one of those $8000.00 zero turns every one else has. The lawn tractors cuts fine it just takes me a little longer to do the job. For all the monthly agreements I plan to bill these out on or around the 20th of the month as most of you are "SNOW BIRDS" If you are not satisfied with your current service give me a call and I will see what I can do for you. In my personal relationship I have never been happier and wonder why it took me 50+ years to find my soul mate. I even like her kids, 10 and 12 year old boys.
My purpose for going in to business for myself was not to become a millionaire or even become famous. I have no desire to be some multi conglomerate entity. My goal was and is to do something I enjoy and give the people I work for more bang for there buck. To provide personal services which can be counted upon. Understand some jobs I take on require more than myself to accomplish. Labor and keeping up with licences and insurances is something I have always tried to keep on top of. I have recently felt the crunch our economy slipping and cut where I could. I have been able to drop my cost of labor to you by $5.00 per man hour. Still being able to be there for you when you need me. Gas keeps going up. Materials keeps going up. The dump just raised there price again. I personally know at least 6 small business who have closed their doors in the last week. I have talked to and know people who have lost their home and have filed for bankruptcy. It's getting pretty scarey out here.
Now on the other hand. Keeping ones home up and running is a very important thing to do. Most of my clients know I paint and plumb and what not. The quality of my work is just as good if not better than the folks with a much higher over head. I was over to a clients home the other day, he had sod put down a was not happy with the work. I have been to customers home were they have been waiting two days for a man who said he was coming yesterday. Neither called me. I am not sure how to get across to you, I am here and can do the job you need done. I have some people who think I just do trimming and some people who think I just paint houses. What am I not doing right? The people whom I paint for are ecstatic with my work and the people whom I trim for are as just as happy with my service. I send flyers and letters. I can just about at 53 years old do just about anything and do it right. I carry the licences and can provide the references. I don't want to be one of those people I know and hear about that has to go and deliver pizza's to feed their family.
This is probably the most sincere and direct Newsletter I have ever written. I need you all to be honest with me and keep me going. I really don't think I could be someone's employee ever again...

Of Putnam County who died.
He was suffocated , beaten and stabbed April 25 2008 . All for a 2003 Toyota truck and an undisclosed amount of money. He was killed 4/25/ 2008 and not found until
5/1 /2008. The murderers were arrested 5/6/ 2008. One of the murders was overheard stating that he looked like an easy target. She was 15 and her boy friend was 22 years old. I worked for this man and he was a great person....
Things are getting crazy out there. The drug addicts are not able to buy there drugs because there are no jobs, and are left only to steal to support there habits. People are siphoning gas out of stranger's cars. They are stealing licence plates and filling up at the Shell gas station and driving off leaving you with trying to explain that car was not yours. Before long unless something is done at night we will be forced to sit on our front porches with a shotgun and defend our property.
I hope I have not upset anyone I just wanted to vent. Things will get better eventual, although it doesn't seem to be fast enough.

Added note...On July 16, 2008, We lost another dear friend. Please know that our prayers go out to the family of Pete Fox.
He will be missed dearly.
